KW series - Friction drive

The KW series is built from cast iron. As with all friction drives, the KW Series transmits power by pressing against the surface of the traction belt, making them pitch-independent and easy to integrate into a wide range of machines.

Due to their specifications, KW wheels are ideal for applications that don’t require the extreme grip or mass of the FRD or HS series. They’re frequently used in smaller machines, compact harvesters, or systems with limited installation space.

Only the KW 160 is splittable.

Friction drive components are a low-complexity, pitch-independent method of powering conveyor belts. Instead of using sprockets that engage with rods or cams, friction drive wheels like those in the KW Series create forward movement through surface contact alone. This results in smoother operation and fewer mechanical stress points—particularly beneficial in machines with simple layouts or lower torque requirements.

When selecting the right friction drive wheel, it’s essential to balance grip, durability, and machine size. The KW Series stands out as a compact and efficient option where heavier drive wheels are not necessary. It’s a practical choice for smaller-scale equipment or as an auxiliary drive in larger systems.
