Square mesh rods are used in sieving webs for long, narrow crops like carrots or parsnips. Welded-on pins create a square opening between each bar, ensuring excellent soil separation with minimal product loss. Thanks to their open structure, these webs offer high sieving capacity while retaining even delicate produce.
To match different applications, the rods are available in Borium, 54SiCr6, or stainless steel. If the web is driven only in the belts, 54SiCr6 is a viable option. However, when the drive force is applied in the rods themselves, Borium is preferred — allowing the entire rod, including the welded pins, to be hardened in one piece for maximum durability. Stainless steel is recommended for wet or corrosive conditions.
Square mesh webs are commonly built using double pitches like 56 mm or 72 mm. Since standard traction belts are not available in those pitches, every second pitch is used on a belt with half the pitch spacing — for example, a web with pitch 72 mm rods uses 36 mm traction belts, with rods fitted every second pitch.
