Z series - Rod drive

The Z Series offers a rugged and flexible drive solution with polyurethane (PU) gear teeth that engage directly with the rods. Unlike systems that rely on traction belt contact, the Z Series transmits force entirely through the rods, ensuring precise control and low wear on belt surfaces. The drive ring consists of a reinforced PU layer molded onto a steel support ring, providing both strength and product-friendliness.

Thanks to its modular design, the Z Series is fully splittable and equipped with a detachable steel hub that can be customized with a bore and keyway or setscrew. When pitch changes or wear occur, only the gear ring needs replacement — the hub remains in place. This significantly reduces maintenance time and costs.

PU gear teeth are more forgiving on rods than cast iron alternatives, making the Z Series an excellent choice for applications that prioritize durability, gentle handling, and ease of service. Custom pitch and diameter combinations can be produced on request, depending on minimum order quantities.

Designed for long service life and gentle yet reliable rod engagement:

  • PU ring ensures minimal rod wear and long-term reliability
  • Reinforced steel core adds strength and dimensional stability
  • Modular hub allows for easy replacement of the gear ring
  • Compatible with many web configurations

Broekema’s Z Series sprockets are engineered for users who need performance, longevity, and ease of maintenance. The combination of PU teeth and a steel support ring creates an optimal balance between flexibility and strength. These drive wheels are suitable for use in a wide range of agricultural and processing equipment, where rod-based drive systems are preferred.

Since the Z Series does not support the traction belt, it’s best used in configurations with dual side belts and properly aligned rods. Their modular construction ensures that part replacement is straightforward, allowing users to maintain uptime without sacrificing long-term quality.
