ZP series - Rod drive

The ZP Series is a robust and modular rod-driven sprocket system featuring durable polyurethane (PU) drive teeth that engage directly with the rods. The traction belts are not driven or supported in this setup — all force is transmitted through the rods. This system is particularly well-suited to webs with two side belts and rods featuring a “top-flat” geometry.

ZP sprockets consist of a reinforced PU ring bolted to steel reinforcement plates and mounted on a detachable hub. This modular setup means that if the sprocket ring wears out or needs to be swapped for another pitch, the hub can stay in place, significantly reducing replacement time and costs. The splittable design allows for easy installation and removal, even on existing shafts.

Compared to cast iron sprockets, PU gear teeth are more forgiving on the rods, resulting in lower wear and extended component life. The ZP series is also compatible with optional double sprockets for added traction, offering even more drive power when required.

Whether for standard setups or custom solutions, the ZP Series combines performance, product-friendliness, and serviceability in one dependable drive unit.

A flexible and service-friendly rod drive solution designed to protect components and boost performance:

  • PU drive ring reduces wear on rods
  • Modular hub/ring design minimizes downtime during replacement
  • Splittable for quick installation and maintenance
  • Optional double sprockets for additional drive power

Broekema’s rod drive sprockets with polyurethane gear rings are designed to offer both gentle operation and high mechanical performance. PU provides strong engagement without damaging metal components like rods or shafts, making it a smart alternative to traditional cast iron sprockets.

The ZP Series stands out through its modularity. Its replaceable PU ring and detachable hub design give users the flexibility to quickly adapt or service the drive system without needing to remove the entire shaft setup. These sprockets are particularly effective in applications requiring moderate to high traction, where downtime needs to be minimized and component longevity is key.
